Privacy Policy
Last updated August 2026.
Hiss & Whisk is a static, read-only guide site. This page explains, plainly, what that means for your data.
What this site collects
Nothing, by default. There are no user accounts, no comment sections, no newsletter sign-up, and no forms anywhere on the site that ask you for personal information. The pages are static files served as-is — there's no database storing anything you do here.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not set its own cookies and does not run any analytics or advertising scripts. If you're reading this on a copy of the site that has had analytics added by whoever is hosting it, that would be disclosed separately by them, not by this page.
Images from Wikimedia Commons
The photos on this site are loaded directly from Wikimedia Commons rather than stored on this site's own server. When a page with one of these images loads, your browser requests that image from Wikimedia's servers, which means your IP address and basic request information is visible to Wikimedia in the same way it would be for any website you visit. That exchange is governed by the Wikimedia Foundation's own privacy policy, not this one.
Links to other sites
Any outbound link on this site — to a source, a reference, or further reading — takes you to a page this site doesn't control. Once you leave, that site's own privacy practices apply, not this one.
Children's privacy
This site doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it doesn't collect information from anyone at all.
Changes to this policy
If how this site is built or hosted ever changes in a way that affects this policy — adding analytics, for instance — this page will be updated to say so, with the date above reflecting the most recent change.
